Interpreting

Conference Interpreting
Simultaneous: In this mode, the interpreter translates the speech at the same time as the speaker delivers it, that is, the translation into the target language is delivered simultaneously. This mode of interpreting requires booths and sound equipment. Simultaneous interpreting is used in congresses, conferences, courses and seminars.
Consecutive: The speaker makes pauses so that the interpreter can translate what has been said so far, before the speaker resumes the speech. It is the mode of interpreting most often used in press conferences, products and services presentations, among others.
Bilateral or liaison: This mode is most often used in meetings, in which two (or a limited number) of interlocutors take part. The interpreter translates each reply of the participants. Liaison or bilateral interpreting is also used in other kind of events, such as international shows and exhibitions.
Translation
Translation is the activity which consists in understanding the meaning of a text in a given language (source text or original text) in order to transfer it to a text with an equivalent meaning in another language (translated text or target text).
The translation process can be divided in three basic stages: understanding the original text, translating it, and proofreading the translated text.
